Statewide Smoking Ban Goes Into Effect July 21 – Arkansas

The “Arkansas Clean Indoor Air Act” will go into effect July 21st, banning smoking in indoor workplaces in the state.

To get business owners ready, the River Valley Tobacco-Free Coalition hosted meetings and handed out information clearing up the laws.

“Our assistance is to show the best practices, and lay it all out in a kit. We will come in and do it for you for free… so basically we’re just kind of like a guide [to] offer a clear statement on what this actually means,” said Mona Clemons.

Business owner Jim Jenkins said the information he received helped clear the air.

“It was really informative, because there is a lot of stuff flying around, different rumors,” Jenkins said.

After the law takes effect July 21, business owners will have 30 days to make their restaurants comply.
